The Plan

Having health problems that affect weight loss and gain, I can't just go on any diet. Because of the insulin resistance associated with my PCOS, a diet that emphasizes low carb/low glycemic eating (like a diabetic diet) is the best.

I am starting out with:
- 1,860 calories a day
- 180 grams of carbs
- 65 grams of fat

As far as exercise goes, I am going to start by walking - 12,000 steps/day and see how that goes. Walking has worked very well for me in the past, and I think it will now, but eventually I am sure I will have to step it up to ensure my weight loss doesn't plateau.

And to keep myself from going crazy with food cravings, I am going to take one day "off" of my diet per week. By that, I mean I won't be counting my calories, fat and carbs and I will have one or two meals that I wouldn't be able to have normally. Thomas' parents usually take us out for lunch once a week, so I will usually plan my "off" day around that.

I officially started the diet on Monday. It didn't go quite as well as I wanted - I ended up consuming 1,972 calories, 79 g/fat and 149.2 g/carbs. I took Tuesday off because we went out to lunch, but I did very well today:

- 1540 calories
- 49 g/fat
- 173 g/carbs.

Today I started walking, as well. I ended up at 11,090 steps which is pretty good considering that I haven't been in the habit of it in a long time. I will be posting my daily steps, calories, carbs and fat intake here along with a weekly weigh-in every Monday.

So, we'll see how it goes... :)
